InMind therapist Heather Boeser MSW, LICSW was recently interviewed for an article for Crossing Art Alliance’s 2026 Currents magazine highlighting an extraordinary woman whose cancer journey inspired not only beautiful artwork, but also a mission to give back.
Through her nonprofit, Kristi Whitman is helping bring art supplies to local cancer centers, creating opportunities for patients to express themselves, find moments of peace, and connect with something meaningful during treatment.
As a therapist who works with people facing cancer and chronic illness, I’ve seen how creative expression can provide comfort, agency, connection, and hope when so much feels uncertain. Art doesn’t change a diagnosis, but it can change how someone experiences the journey.
